Divine Treasure of the Andes

Divine Treasure of the Andes

In the wonderful Peruvian Andes, the majestic Vicuña displays its grace freely. Raised under the warm gaze of the sun, it defies the limits of the mountains and reaches for the stars at over 5,000 metres in height. Its fragile and elegant essence makes it a creature worthy of admiration.

The elegance of the Vicuñas is reflected in every strand of their exquisite fibre, as their dense and soft coat boasts a quality and texture exceptional enough to make it the finest fibre in the world, surpassing even that of the famous Cashmere goats in the Himalayas.

The Finest Fibre in the World

The Vicuña, an Andean camelid that moves elegantly among the peaks of the Andes, offers us one of the most treasured textile gems: its fibre. Known as the finest and most sumptuous in the world, this fibre stands out for its softness, lightness, and warmth, surpassing any other natural material in the textile realm. With a diameter of just 12 microns, it is extraordinarily delicate, yet surprisingly durable and possesses a thermal insulation capacity that defies its fineness. The colour of the Vicuña fibre, with its unmistakable natural golden or light brown hue, adds a touch of sophistication to garments without the need for dyeing processes. This combination of qualities elevates it to the pinnacle of luxury materials, and that is why it is celebrated around the world as ‘The finest fibre in the world’.

Micronage is a measurement used to determine the diameter or thickness of a fibre, including that of sheep’s wool, Alpaca, and other fibre-producing animals. It is measured in microns (a unit of measurement equivalent to one millionth of a metre). A lower micron number indicates a finer and softer fibre, and generally more valuable.
